Con esta ley se declara Área Natural Protegida el área del territorio provincial correspondiente al departamento Tafí del Valle, a fin de preservar, conservar y valorizar los recursos naturales y genéticos, el patrimonio natural, histórico y cultural, y el capital cultural.
